In 2005, BYFI alumni, their families, and friends donated over
$23,000 to our first-ever fundraising campaign. these funds
were used to support a variety of exciting and innovative projects,
including:
Washington Square Minyan, an independent, lay-led post-denominational congregation in Boston.
The Jerusalem Bayit, a residential community of 2004 byfi alumni in Jerusalem, which engages in Jewish study and social action, working in schools in Jerusalem’s most under-privileged neighborhoods.
Bet Kavod in Boston, a residential community which engages in communal outreach, Jewish study, and activism.
Tikvat Yisrael, a project in new york city which brings together Jews of different denominations for friday night prayer and celebration.
Hadar, a traditional egalitarian minyan and study community in New York.
Yalla, a Canadian student literary journal which provides Jewish and Muslim youth with a forum to respond to and reflect upon the crisis in the Middle East.
A scholarships fund for participants in the “Jews in the Woods” Sukkot retreat, an alternative Jewish community experience, created by BYFI alumni.
